Watch out for people who would try to deceive us (13:5)
Watch out for the fulfillment of prophecies that have been foretold (13:23)
Watch out for the second coming and pray (13:33)

- Doctrine and Covenants 33:17 - “Wherefore, be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom—”

To summarize the above verses, I would say that to prepare for the second coming, we are told to: stand in holy places, study the scriptures, watch for the signs of Christ’s coming, be faithful and pray always, and follow the promptings and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
